在這部電影里,我們可以用一個確切的短語來表示 Mrs. Robinson對本的追求和兩人之間的關系: To rob the cradle 或者說Mrs. Robinson robbed the cradle. 這個俚語形容年紀較大的人追求年紀相差較大或很年輕的異性,與其談戀愛或結婚。中文里老夫少妻和老妻少夫說的就是這個意思。但平時也可以當作一種夸張的,玩笑的說法。如:A forth-year boy is dating a freshman girl. He has robbed the cradle.一個大四的男生與一個一年的女生談戀愛。簡直是老少配嘛。

Mrs. Robinson對本的引誘進入了是步步緊逼,不由分說的階段。而本則驚慌失措,倉惶躲閃。可以說是驚心動魄。幾個回合下來,Mrs. Robinson愈發成竹在胸,勢在必得。如果不是Mr. Robinson恰好趕回,后果是顯而易見的。
