Playing air guitar is a form of dance and movement in which the performer pretends to play rock or heavy metal-style electric guitar, including riffs, solos, etc. Playing an air guitar usually consists of exaggerated strumming and picking motions and is often coupled with loud singing or lip-synching.

彈奏空氣吉他其實就是演奏者假裝在用電吉他彈奏搖滾或重金屬音樂，做出一些舞蹈和演奏動作，假裝演奏部分可能是即興重復段落或獨奏。空氣吉他彈奏多包含夸張的隨意彈奏和撥片動作，同時伴有高聲演唱或對嘴形表演。

Organized air guitar competitions are regularly held in many countries. The first on-off air guitar competitions were organized in the early 1980s in Sweden and in the United States. Since 1996 the annual Air Guitar World Championships have been a part of the Oulu Music Video Festival in Oulu, Finland.

很多國家都會定期組織舉辦空氣吉他比賽。第一個空氣吉他大賽于二十世紀八十年代初期在瑞典和美國舉辦。自1996年起，世界空氣吉他錦標賽開始成為芬蘭奧盧音樂影像節的一個部分。
