Many Chinese learners of English might say "My flight will leave at 10 tomorrow morning". Can you see any problems with this sentence? It's grammatically correct in written English, but not in spoken English.

Chinese learners might also say "Please read this text" or "I want to buy a cup of coffee please". These sentences might sound quite polite to Chinese people but British people could feel they are too direct and not very polite. How come?!

What's more, a Chinese speaker of English might say "This is my daughter, have you met HIM before?" But the speaker probably wouldn't make that mistake when writing English.

Grammar expert Ken Paterson, the director of Centre for English Learning and Teaching at the University of Westminster, helps us find out some common mistakes in Chinese learners' spoken English.
