I want to ask about the use of the word online in daily conversation. For example, how do I differentiate between online and surfing?

This week's question is about using computing terms in everyday conversation. Going online is a modern saying that people use to mean using the computer to connect with the internet or the worldwide web. We can now go shopping online to buy all kinds of things such as food, cinema tickets or holidays.

But sometimes we like to shop around and look at a variety of websites. That's when we use the verb, to surf. We go surfing when we spend time online exploring the internet.
