Reader's question: Could you explain “take my word for it”? My comments: Good question. If someone asks you to take their word for it, they want you to trust them, believe them. Believe their words, that is. Believe them that their words are true (without evidence to prove those words to be true, of course, at the moment). Hence, believe them if you will - at your peril.
