Redneck competition underway

A group of Americans known as rednecks - people who typically work outside, enjoy the outdoors and are the subject of a number of light-hearted jokes - are competing in a variety of outrageous competitions this week. Some of the events include bobbing for pig feet, driving cars through mud and carrying a person's wife through a race. It's weird stuff, but it sure is fun to watch!

Typically, the word is used to describe a group of people who are from the southern United States, have conservative political and social views and enjoy the rural outdoors. Rednecks typically enjoy drinking beer, driving off-road, fishing and hunting. Redneck humor is a popular form comedy in the United States, especially among Americans in the south.
