>China to offer 1m internship posts for job seekers
十部門啟動百萬就業見習崗位募集計劃

China will provide job seekers with no fewer than 1 million internship openings this year to help them find employment as soon as possible, authorities said on Wednesday. The openings will be arranged with concerted efforts from the government and various sectors, and the campaign will strive for the participation of employers, college graduates and unemployed young people, according to a circular released by 10 government organs, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Ministry of Education.
人社部、教育部等十部門3月16日發布通知，部署啟動實施百萬就業見習崗位募集計劃，幫助青年提升就業能力。通知提出，充分發揮政府有關部門、社會各方面力量，力爭把有意愿的用人單位、高校畢業生和失業青年都組織到見習活動中。

Internship providers should pay for their interns' basic living expenses and any other fees incurred in their management and tutoring, the circular said.
見習期間，由見習單位為見習人員提供基本生活費，并承擔見習人員的指導管理費用。

These providers will receive subsidies, and those with a retention rate higher than 50 percent after the end of the internship period will receive more subsidies.
對吸納見習的單位，按規定給予就業見習補貼。對見習期滿留用率達到50%以上的見習單位，可適當提高見習補貼標準。

>China has 570,000 public legal service centers
我國建成五級公共法律服務中心約57萬個

China has established around 570,000 public legal service centers at all levels, covering legal consulting, legal aid, and mediation, among other services, said the Ministry of Justice.
司法部表示，我國現已建成省、市、縣、鄉、村五級公共法律服務中心（工作站、工作室）約57萬個，提供法律咨詢、法律援助、調解等各類服務。

In 2021, volunteer lawyers with a national volunteer campaign on legal aid handled more than 5,000 legal assistance cases, accepted over 74,800 legal consulting requests, and delivered 1,010 lectures promoting the rule of law. They also helped resolve over 1,400 disputes, data from the ministry showed.
司法部數據顯示，2021年，“1+1”中國法律援助志愿者行動志愿律師共辦理各類法律援助案件5000余件，接待法律咨詢74800余人次，開展法治宣傳講座1010場次，化解矛盾糾紛1400余起。

Since the law on legal aid went into effect on Jan. 1, legal assistance agencies nationwide have been implementing the law as procedures were streamlined for people to get easier access to legal assistance.
今年1月1日起，法律援助法正式施行。各地法律援助機構認真落實法律援助法，簡化程序和手續，保障群眾更便利地獲得法律援助。

>US Fed raises interest rates
美聯儲啟動三年多來首次加息

The US Federal Reserve on Wednesday raised its benchmark interest rate for the first time since 2018, as it seeks to tame the highest US inflation in four decades.
由于美國通脹水平創40年來最高紀錄，美國聯邦儲備委員會3月16日宣布上調聯邦基金利率目標區間25個基點，這是美聯儲2018年以來首次加息。

"Inflation remains elevated, reflecting supply and demand imbalances related to the pandemic, higher energy prices, and broader price pressures," the Fed said in a statement after a two-day policy meeting, adding the Ukraine crisis and related events are likely to "create additional upward pressure" on inflation and weigh on economic activity.
美聯儲在結束為期兩天的貨幣政策會議后發表聲明說，通脹仍處于高位，反映出與新冠疫情相關的供需失衡、能源價格上漲和更廣泛的價格壓力。烏克蘭危機可能對美國通脹造成額外的上行壓力，并令經濟活動承壓。

The central bank decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate by a quarter percentage point, to 0.25 to 0.5 percent, and "anticipates that ongoing increases in the target range will be appropriate," the statement said.

>7.4-magnitude quake strikes northern Japan
日本福島縣海域發生7.4級地震

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Fukushima in northern Japan on Wednesday evening, leaving at least four people dead and scores injured, cutting off power for more than 2 million homes in the Tokyo area.
當地時間3月16日晚，日本福島縣附近海域發生里氏7.4級強烈地震，目前已導致至少4人死亡、多人受傷，超200萬戶家庭斷電。

The quake prompted the Meteorological Agency to issue a 1-meter tsunami warning to the Pacific coast of Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures, but the warning was lifted Thursday morning, after only relatively small tsunami waves were observed.
地震發生后，日本氣象廳向福島縣、宮城縣沿海地區發出海嘯警報，預計海嘯高度為1米。3月17日上午，海嘯警報被全部解除，解除前觀測到的海嘯高度相對震級來說不算高。

A bullet train with about 100 passengers on board derailed between Fukushima Station in Fukushima and Shiroishizao Station in Miyagi, but no injuries were reported.
