A Tokyo clothing maker has teamed up with veterinarians to create a wearable fan for pets, hoping to attract the anxious owners of dogs - or cats - that can't shed their fur coats in Japan's blistering summer weather.
東京一家制衣企業與獸醫合作,為寵物設計了一款可穿戴風扇,希望能吸引那些在炎炎夏日擔心自己的“毛孩子”太熱的狗/貓主人們。


The device consists of a battery-operated, 80-gram fan that is attached to a mesh outfit and blows air around an animal's body.
這種可穿戴電扇重80克,由電池驅動,固定在寵物的網狀外套上,可以在寵物身邊吹風。


Rei Uzawa, president of maternity clothing maker Sweet Mommy, said she was motivated to create it after seeing her own pet chihuahua exhausted every time it was taken out for a walk.
孕婦裝制造商Sweet Mommy的總裁Rei Uzawa稱,她發現自己的寵物吉娃娃每次在酷熱的夏天出去散步時都熱得無精打采,因此受到啟發。


The device debuted in early July and Sweet Mommy has received around 100 orders for the product, Uzawa said.

Candy Funhouse, an online retailer of confectionery treats from chocolate bars to gummies and licorice, is hiring a $78,000 a year, work-from-home Chief Candy Officer.

Several thousand candidates have already applied for the position, which was posted on LinkedIn in July, Chief Executive Officer Jamal Hejazi said.

The company said the Chief Candy Officer position is open to applicants as young as five — although parental permission would likely be required.

More than half of known human infectious diseases have been exacerbated by climate change, according to a new study published Monday by the journal Nature Climate Change.
專業學術期刊《自然氣候變化》8日發表一項最新研究顯示,超過一半的已知人類傳染病在某種程度上因氣候災害而惡化。


The study listed 1,006 ways climate hazards could make people sick, including the breeding of virus-carrying mosquitoes and mice after heavy rains and floods and warming oceans contaminating seafood and other human foods.
該研究列出了氣候災害可能導致人們患病的1006種途徑,包括暴雨和洪水過后滋生攜帶病毒的蚊子、老鼠;海洋變暖會污染海產品和其他人類食物。


“The findings of this study are terrifying and illustrate the enormous consequences of climate change on human pathogens,” said Dr Carlos del Rio, an Emory University infectious disease specialist.
美國埃默里大學傳染病專家卡洛斯?德爾里奧說:“這項研究的發現很可怕,很好地說明了氣候變化對人類病原體的巨大影響。”德爾里奧稱,人類需要共同努力,防止氣候變化釀成更多災難。

The Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd., a joint venture based in Lao capital Vientiane responsible for the operation of the railway's Lao section, has said since its opening last December, cross-border goods transported by the China-Laos Railway have exceeded 1 million tons.
老中鐵路有限公司(LCRC)是一家位于老撾首都萬象的合資企業,負責鐵路老撾段的運營。該公司表示,自去年12月開通以來,中老鐵路運輸的跨境貨物已超過100萬噸。


Since the opening of the railway, freight transport has shown a rising trend, with goods such as daily commodities, fertilizers, photovoltaics, textiles and vegetables, among others, shipped from China to Laos, while iron and zinc ore, charcoal, rubber, potash and fruits were transported from Laos and neighboring countries to China.
自中老鐵路開通以來,貨運呈現上升趨勢,生活用品、化肥、電子產品、光伏、紡織品和蔬菜等貨物從中國運往老撾,而鐵鋅礦、木炭、橡膠、鉀肥和水果則從老撾及周邊國家運往中國。


The cost of freight through the railway is almost the same as that of maritime transport, while the transport time is cut significantly shorter.
